Upcoming IPN Event – Tips on how to make homework time with your child stress-free by Alison Owen

Are you trapped in a daily homework battle with your child? Who is most stressed when it comes to homework, you or your child? Making homework less of a headache is a parent’s responsibility, but in our complicated and busy daily lives, this can be easier said then implementing.

Getting the most out of this experience and using the time effectively is important. Simple strategies can make all the difference to having homework completed without any hassles. Knowing what is appropriate for each age is also important and how to manage it when you have other children and other responsibilities can be quite a challenge. Instead of disrupting family life and creating conflict, homework should be an important tool that helps children practice their skills to improve learning.

During her talk, our guest speaker Alison Owen will talk about :

*          The basic rules

*          The different schools and their expectations

*          Cultural perspectives on homework

*          Different ages of students and stages of development

*          Converting police work to routine supervision— a behavioral approach

*          Study skills and homework planning
